Nothing kills a production rhythm like a slow ramp-up. When your tableware dryers take forever to hit the right temperature, you’re just watching the clock while your throughput tanks. It’s frustrating. That’s why we use short-wave infrared (IR) lamps. Think of them as a shortcut. Instead of waiting for the whole oven to warm up, these lamps hit the surface of your tableware instantly with high-density energy. How it actually works Most heaters rely on convection—basically warming up the air and hoping it does the job. IR is different. It uses electromagnetic radiation to move heat directly to the product. We pack a lot of wattage into a small quartz tube to create a high-intensity heat zone. The result? You can crank up your conveyor speed and still get perfectly dry tableware every single time. Getting them into your line We make these lamps out of hard quartz glass because they need to handle the shock of rapid heating and cooling without cracking. And we keep things simple. Most of our bakery units use standard R7s or SK15 connectors. They’re designed to be drop-in replacements. You just swap them out—no need to rip apart your control cabinet or spend a weekend rewiring everything. One quick tip: keep an eye on your voltage. These high-wattage tubes are thirsty for power. If your wiring is too thin, your output will dip, and you won’t get the performance you’re paying for. The trade-off Adding IR lamps is like a shot of adrenaline for your cycle time. But there’s a catch. All that intensity creates a lot of ambient heat around the housing. If your ventilation fans aren’t pulling that heat away from the electrical terminals, you’re going to fry your sockets. It’s a simple fix, but a critical one. Also, pair them with a PID controller. It gives you way more control over the temperature so you don’t accidentally scorch your product. Just set it, let it manage the heat, and get back to work.
